India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar
The war between Ukraine and Russia cannot be ended by military means, prompting India to take steps toward facilitating dialogue between the two sides. This was stated by India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, as reported by The Hindu on Wednesday, September 25.
Jaishankar explained that India is holding talks with both parties, seeking to understand how peace negotiations can be accelerated. “It’s a kind of exploration we are conducting. We don’t have a peace plan,” he clarified.
The minister also shared that India has been communicating with both sides, exchanging insights from discussions held with each of them. “I believe both parties appreciate this effort,” he added, highlighting that few nations or leaders have the willingness or ability to engage with both Ukraine and Russia.
These remarks came shortly after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the UN General Assembly session.
