Iran will stop military strikes in response to Israel if the Israeli army does not launch new attacks on the territory of the Islamic Republic. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during a meeting with foreign diplomats, the Times of Israel reports.

“If the aggression stops, our retaliatory actions will also stop,” Araghchi said, calling the latest strikes by Tehran an act of self-defence.

The Iranian foreign minister also strongly condemned Israel’s strikes on the South Pars offshore gas field, calling it a “very dangerous act”. According to him, the transfer of the conflict to the Persian Gulf is a “strategic mistake” that could have unpredictable consequences for the security of the entire region.

In addition, Araghchi accused Israel of a deliberate attempt to disrupt diplomatic talks between Iran and the United States, which, according to him, could have paved the way for a new nuclear deal. According to the diplomat, during the sixth round of talks, which were eventually cancelled, Tehran was supposed to submit a concrete proposal to resume the deal.

“Israel has done everything to destroy the chance for an agreement between Tehran and Washington,” the minister said.

At the same time, Araghchi questioned the United States’ claims of non-involvement in the Israeli strikes, hinting that Israel’s actions could not have taken place without Washington’s tacit consent.

“The United States must openly condemn Israeli attacks on our nuclear facilities if it wants to prove its goodwill for negotiations,” he stressed.

As a reminder, recent days have seen an escalation of the conflict between Iran and Israel, in particular due to attacks on energy and nuclear infrastructure. The United States has officially denied any involvement in the attacks, but Tehran believes that it is American support that allows Israel to act with impunity.
