The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) has called on Iranian civilians to immediately leave areas near weapons production facilities. The statement was made on Sunday by Israeli forces spokesman Colonel Avichai Adrae, the Times of Israel reports.

“All persons who are or may be in or near weapons production facilities and their supporting institutions should be evacuated from these areas immediately and not return until further notice,” Adrae said in a post on Twitter.

He stressed that being near military-industrial facilities now poses a direct threat to the lives of Iranian civilians.

This warning is yet another indication of the growing tension between Israel and Iran, which continues after a series of reciprocal strikes on military and energy infrastructure. Analysts do not rule out that the IDF’s statement could be a harbinger of a new phase of operations aimed at neutralising Iran’s military potential.

Earlier, Tehran announced that it would stop strikes on Israel if Israeli aggression stops. At the same time, Iran has warned that strikes on its facilities, in particular the South Pars gas field, could have grave consequences for regional security.

Israel continues to insist on the need to prevent the development of Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes.
