Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israeli forces have dealt a significant blow to Iran’s nuclear programme and are preparing for new attacks, including on Tehran. He said this in a video message, The Times of Israel reports, citing the words of the head of government.

According to Netanyahu, over the past two days, the Israeli Air Force has carried out a series of air strikes that have hit key nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as a “group of leading scientists” directly involved in weapons development. The prime minister stressed that these actions had significantly delayed the development of Iran’s nuclear programme – at least for several years.

“We have also targeted a group of leading scientists who are managing these projects,” he said, commenting on the results of the Israeli army’s recent actions.

Netanyahu stressed that Iran poses an immediate threat through the development of ballistic missiles. According to him, Israel is depriving the ayatollahs’ regime of the ability to produce such weapons of mass destruction.

The most resonant was the prime minister’s statement about the future actions of Israeli forces:
“Very soon you will see Israeli Air Force aircraft flying over the skies of Tehran. We will strike every target of the ayatollahs’ regime,” Netanyahu said, adding that “the strikes so far are nothing compared to what will happen in the coming days.”

Israeli strikes on Iran were a response to the growing threat from Tehran, which includes not only nuclear ambitions but also attempts to influence through proxy groups in the region, from Hamas to Hezbollah. The international community is following the developments with concern, as the escalation between the two regional powers could provoke a new large-scale crisis in the Middle East.
