Israeli Defence Minister Yisrael Katz has issued a dire warning about the possible resumption of the war in Gaza, saying that it will be “different in intensity” and will continue until Hamas is completely defeated and all hostages are released. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post.
“If the hostages are not released by Saturday, we will start a new phase of the war, which will be different from the previous one. As US President Donald Trump promised, all hell will break loose in Gaza,” Katz said on Wednesday.
No concessions – only war
The minister stressed that each truce with Hamas was concluded solely with the aim of returning Israeli hostages held in inhumane conditions as soon as possible.
“We agreed to pay a high price for their release. But if the terrorists stop releasing the hostages, there will be no agreements, only war,” Katz stressed.
He also confirmed that he is working with the leadership of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) to prepare for a new phase of the operation in Gaza.
Trump’s plans for Gaza
Katz also commented on US President Donald Trump’s statements about the future of the Gaza Strip, which include large-scale resettlement of Palestinians and the transformation of the territory into an economic centre.
“The resumption of the war will allow President Trump’s vision for Gaza to be realised,” the Israeli minister said.
Senior Israeli officials, including Major General Odet Basiuk and Brigadier General Yisrael Shomer, confirmed that the IDF is fully prepared for a new stage of hostilities.
