The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) has declared its readiness to strictly comply with the terms of the agreement with Hamas to return hostages. At the same time, the military continues to take operational actions to prevent threats from suspected individuals in the Gaza Strip, the IDF reported on Telegram.
Activity in the Gaza Strip
In several areas of the Gaza Strip, suspects were spotted approaching the military and posing a potential threat. According to the IDF, in such cases, the military opened warning fire.
In northern Gaza, the military also identified a suspect who continued to pose a threat despite warnings. Additional shots were fired to remove the threat.
Targeting suspicious vehicles
In the central part of the Gaza Strip, Israeli warplanes attacked vehicles travelling in the restricted area. According to the IDF, the vehicles were travelling without being inspected, in violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Statement by the Israeli Defence Forces
The IDF stressed that it adheres to the terms of the agreement with Hamas signed on 17 January, but is prepared for any scenario. “We will continue to take all necessary measures to prevent any threat to our soldiers,” the press service said.
The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas provides for the cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip on both sides. The main goal of the agreement is to return Israeli hostages and stabilise the situation in the region.
