US Special Representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday to meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This comes amid talks between Washington and Moscow to end the war, The Guardian reports.

Talks in Kyiv
Kellogg, who was met in Kyiv by US Ambassador Bridget Brink, said that the Trump administration’s mission was to hear from the Ukrainian side and assess its security needs.

“My mission is to listen to the arguments, to pass them on to President Trump, Secretary Rubio and the team to find a solution,” he told reporters.

Kyiv’s dissatisfaction with the US-Russia talks
Kellogg’s visit took place the day after the US-Russia talks in Saudi Arabia, which caused Kyiv’s dissatisfaction. The Ukrainian leadership was not allowed to take part in these discussions, which led to criticism from allies in Europe.

Donald Trump also criticised Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying that he should have reached an agreement with Moscow sooner.

Meetings in Brussels and Warsaw
Before arriving in Kyiv, Kellogg visited Brussels and Warsaw, where he met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Council Antonio Costa and President of Poland Andrzej Duda.

The visit of the US representative to Kyiv could determine the future role of the US in the conflict and influence future agreements between Washington, Moscow and Kyiv.
