The Kremlin said on Wednesday that many European countries are beginning to face difficulties in mobilising their defence industries to support Ukraine, Reuters reports.

When asked about the military industries of France and Germany, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not name specific countries or specify why or how they are experiencing difficulties. Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron said that arms supplies to Ukraine were continuing, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced military aid worth €1.4 billion for Kyiv by the end of 2024.

However, Peskov hinted at problems.

“This mobilisation of capabilities for illusory purposes is contrary to the economic interests of these countries, and obviously their capabilities are not designed for such efforts,” Peskov told reporters. “Over time, we hope that the realisation of the unnecessary nature of such expenditures will become clearer and spread among more and more politicians in these countries.”

The Kremlin continues to criticise Western support for Ukraine, trying to persuade European countries to reconsider their military aid policies.
