On Wednesday, the Kremlin said it was too early to comment on the details of the “victory plan” presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but warned that Kyiv should “wake up from its intoxication” and realise the futility of its course, Reuters reports.

On Wednesday, Zelenskyy announced his five-point “victory plan”. Among them, the key ones are the unconditional invitation of Ukraine to join NATO and the creation of a strategic non-nuclear deterrence package to protect the country.

In his address to parliament, the Ukrainian president said that if his plan is implemented immediately, the war with Russia could end next year.

Reacting to these statements, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called Zelensky’s plan “probably a disguised American plan”, the main goal of which is to use Ukraine as a tool to fight Russia “to the last Ukrainian”.

“However, there may be another plan, a truly peaceful one: for the Kyiv regime to realise the folly of its policy, wake up from its intoxication and understand the true causes of this conflict,” Peskov added.

The Kremlin also stressed its firm rejection of any attempts by Ukraine to join NATO.

Washington, which has provided Ukraine with billions of dollars worth of weapons and aid, said the decision on future relations with Russia is up to Kyiv.
