First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Sergiy Kyslytsya said that any serious talks on a ceasefire, ceasefire monitoring or security guarantees in Ukraine without the participation of the United States and European countries are futile. He said this in a podcast hosted by journalist Natalia Moseychuk.
“All military, political and financial factors show that it is impossible to resolve the largest conflict on the European continent without the real involvement of the United States and Europeans,” Kyslytsia said.
He noted that this position was conveyed to the Russian side during the first round of talks in Istanbul on 16 May. According to him, both the US Secretary of State and acting National Security Advisor Marco Rubio are aware of this.
“This is Ukraine’s political position. And I think that eventually we will all be in the same room,” the diplomat added.
Thus, Ukraine clearly outlines the red lines for the international format of future negotiations, ruling out the possibility of “treaty” without key Western partners.
