On Friday, 9 May, Lviv became the venue for key diplomatic events in Europe, with delegations from 35 countries and the Council of Europe arriving to attend a meeting of EU foreign ministers and a Core Group meeting on the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, and the foreign ministers were officially welcomed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sybiga. The visit began with a symbolic act – the delegations paid tribute to the memory of Ukrainian defenders at Lychakiv Cemetery.

“We discussed further joint efforts to strengthen Ukraine, increase pressure on Russia and advance Ukraine’s integration into the EU. There are two key events ahead: the EU ministerial meeting and the Core Group meeting on the tribunal,” Sibiga said.

This meeting takes place against the backdrop of the Europe Day celebrations in Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the citizens with greetings and called for unity with the European community in the fight for freedom, justice and peace.
