The United States is stepping up diplomatic efforts to resolve the war in Ukraine. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a multilateral phone call with the foreign ministers of key European Union countries and Ukraine.
This was announced by the US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
According to her, Rubio spoke with:
- Andriy Sybiga (Ukraine),
- Jean-Noël Barrault (France),
- Johann Wadefuhl (Germany),
- Radoslaw Sikorski (Poland),
- David Lammy (UK),
- and Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative.
The conversation focused on ways to cease fire and find conditions for sustainable peace.
“It was a meaningful discussion, during which the parties discussed opportunities for diplomatic progress and mechanisms to support Ukraine in the context of Euro-Atlantic security,” Bruce said.
The conversation took place against the backdrop of increased international attention to initiatives to achieve comprehensive peace, given the growing level of violence at the front and the threat of further escalation.
