Kyiv, 21 October – Ukraine welcomes the new Ambassador of Japan, Masashi Nakagome, who has officially arrived in Kyiv to begin his diplomatic mission. His predecessor, Kuninori Matsuda, has completed his work in Ukraine and returned to Japan. This was reported by lb.ua with reference to a statement by the Japanese Embassy on the X platform.

Masashi Nakagome, who has extensive experience in international relations, arrived in the Ukrainian capital by train, where he was welcomed at the station. In a statement, the embassy said: “We are pleased to welcome the new Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome. His professional knowledge and many years of experience in diplomacy will be the basis for further deepening the partnership between Japan and Ukraine.”

Kuninori Matsuda, who actively contributed to the development of Japan-Ukraine relations, completed his mission on 13 October, leaving an important legacy of cooperation between the two countries.

The appointment of the new ambassador comes amid Japan’s active involvement in Ukraine’s recovery. In early October, the Japanese government announced a USD 150 million credit line. These funds will be used to restore and reconstruct key economic and social infrastructure, which is critical in the process of rebuilding the country after Russian aggression.

Japan continues to play a significant role in supporting Ukraine in the international arena, demonstrating unwavering solidarity and readiness to help restore peace and stability.
