The Israeli government will take into account the position of the United States, but the final decision on the response to Iran’s missile strike will be based on national interests. This was stated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, Reuters reports.

“We will listen to the US, but we will make final decisions based on our national interests,” Netanyahu said.

This statement came after the Israeli media began to actively discuss the Washington Post article. According to the publication, the Israeli Prime Minister informed US President Joe Biden of his intention to strike Iran’s military facilities, but not its oil or nuclear facilities.

The Washington Post notes that Netanyahu is preparing a “limited response” to Iran’s missile attack two weeks ago.

Fears are growing that a large-scale war could break out in the Middle East due to the escalation between Israel and Iran. It remains unclear how Israel will respond to the attacks, after Iran fired hundreds of ballistic missiles into Israel on 1 October.

President Biden has made clear his position that he does not support Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, as this could lead to a new escalation and draw the United States into the conflict.

It is noted that an attack on Iran’s oil facilities could lead to an increase in world energy prices.

In addition, Israel has informed the United States that it plans to complete its military operations against the Hezbollah group in Lebanon in the coming weeks, the Washington Post reports.
