Netanyahu’s coalition rating rises after Trump’s Gaza announcement – poll

The rating of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ‘s ruling coalition has increased to 53 seats in the Knesset, and his Likud party has added three seats, gaining 24 seats. These are the results of a survey conducted by Lazar Research in cooperation with Panel4All and commissioned by Maariv, The Jerusalem Post reports.

The rise in popularity of the ruling bloc came after US President Donald Trump presented his plan for the future of Gaza during a press conference in Washington, D.C., with Netanyahu.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s Otzma Yehudit party also strengthened its position, winning nine seats in parliament.

At the same time, support in the opposition camp has weakened:

  • Benny Ganz’s National Unity party lost two seats and now has 17 seats.
  • “The Democratic Party lost one seat, dropping to 12 seats.

If a new party led by Naftali Bennett were to run for office, it would win 24 seats, two fewer than in the previous poll. At the same time, Likud would drop to 22 seats in this scenario.

Attitudes towards Trump’s Gaza plan
Almost half of Israelis (47%) believe that Trump’s Gaza plan can be implemented. Among coalition party voters, the number is as high as 78%.

At the same time, 38% of Israelis are sceptical about the prospects for implementing the initiative. This pessimism is particularly noticeable among Arab parties and 58% of opposition voters.

Prospects for the hostage deal
Regarding the hostage deal, 40% of respondents believe that it will be fully implemented (last week – 36%). At the same time, 29% are confident that it will fail, and 31% have no clear position.

Among coalition voters, 48% believe in the completion of the agreement, while 23% do not. Opposition voters are equally divided – 36% each support and oppose.

The poll shows that US statements and active political events directly affect political ratings in Israel and shape public opinion ahead of possible early elections.
