Norway prepares to increase financial assistance to Ukraine

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said he would soon address the parliament with a proposal to increase financial assistance to Ukraine, Reuters reports.

“Today I can say that in the near future we will return to parliament with a proposal to increase support for Ukraine,” Støre told Norwegian broadcaster NRK on Saturday.

At the end of last year, the Norwegian Parliament agreed to allocate a total of NOK 35 billion (USD 3.12 billion) for military and civilian assistance to Ukraine in 2025. In total, Norway plans to provide NOK 155 billion in aid between 2023 and 2030.

On Sunday, 2 March, Jonas Här Ster will meet in London with European leaders and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss further steps to support Kyiv and strengthen European security.
