Norway provides drones and air defense to Ukraine: aid details

Norway has announced a significant contribution to support Ukraine, providing drones and air defense systems. The total amount of aid is NOK 570 million, which underlines Norway’s commitment to help Ukraine defend against Russian aggression.

Official position of Norway

Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram emphasized the critical importance of this aid: “Ukraine has an urgent need to strengthen its defense capabilities. Norway, together with our international partners, is ready to support Ukraine in this difficult time.”

Cooperation through the International Fund for Ukraine

Aid to Norway is channeled through the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), which is headed by Great Britain. This decision is part of the efforts of countries such as Great Britain, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Norway, which are working together to provide Ukraine with the necessary military resources. From 2022, Norway has already contributed NOK 1.8 billion to the IFU, and the total contribution of the donor countries exceeds NOK 12.5 billion.

Previous contributions and support

Previously, Norway was actively involved in providing Ukraine with various military materials, such as air defense equipment, mine clearance equipment, artillery ammunition and vehicles.

Funding through the Nansen program

Norway’s aid is financed through the Nansen program, which facilitates the effective provision of military support to Ukraine.
