German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has called the Ukrainian operation to shoot down Russian strategic bombers in Siberia an “impressive achievement” that demonstrates the strategic maturity and innovation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He made the statement in Brussels before a meeting of the Contact Group on Defence of Ukraine.
“The drone strike on the enemy’s deep rear is an extraordinary achievement, the significance of which can hardly be overestimated. Thousands of kilometres from the front line. This demonstrates: Ukraine does not give up,” Pistorius stressed.
He also noted the attack on the Kerch Bridge as another proof of the effectiveness of Ukraine’s strategy to counter aggression. According to the minister, these actions send a clear message not only to Putin but also to Russian society: Moscow has failed to achieve its strategic goals and is unlikely to do so in the near future.
Pistorius expressed his belief that Ukraine’s actions have become a catalyst for a new understanding of the balance of power in the war.
