Visit to the US and the Importance of Alliance

During his ten-day visit to the United States, Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski affirmed Poland’s support for Ukraine while emphasizing that Poland has its own requirements. “We want to maintain support for both sides of the political debate in the US regarding the alliance with Europe, support for Ukraine, and the physical presence of American troops in Poland,” Sikorski stated while in Washington, as reported by rmf24.

Negotiation Dynamics with Ukraine

When asked about negotiations with Ukraine, the minister noted that “Ukraine is under pressure.” He added, “At sea, they feel good; on land, it’s a bit worse,” highlighting the importance of support while not overlooking Polish interests.

Topics for Discussion in New York

After Washington, Sikorski plans to visit New York to participate in the UN General Assembly session. He will also travel to Detroit, where he will meet with leadership from General Dynamics Land Systems, a contractor supplying arms to Poland, including Abrams tanks.

Accountability for Road Crimes

Journalists also inquired about the extradition of Sebastian M., who is suspected of causing a fatal accident on the A1 highway that killed a family of three. The minister responded, “This is on my agenda. Polish public opinion is outraged by cases of road piracy, and such criminals must be held accountable.” He plans to address this issue during his speech in New York.
