Ukraine has decided to reduce the cost of medicines. Starting from 1 March, prices for the top 100 most popular medicines will be reduced by 30%. The decision was made by the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine at its meeting on 12 February. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address.

“There is a way to reduce the price of the top 100 medicines by 30% starting from 1 March – the most important medicines for our people,” the Head of State said.

Zelensky stressed that the government should immediately present a mechanism for reducing the cost of medicines and make these changes visible to every citizen.

“Changes should be tangible and positive for millions of Ukrainians. This is the personal responsibility of the government officials, and specifically the Minister of Health,” the President stressed.

The Cabinet of Ministers is expected to announce the details of this initiative in the near future. The reduction in drug prices will be a significant step towards improving the affordability of medicines for Ukrainians, especially in the current challenging economic environment.
