On 1 February, the Russian army conducted an air strike on a boarding school in the town of Sudzha, Kursk region, which is now under the control of the Ukrainian Defence Forces. The strike targeted the central part of the building, with 86 civilians and four police officers inside.
Victims and consequences
As of 21:00, four people have been reported dead and four seriously wounded. The seriously injured were evacuated to stabilisation centres for further treatment. About 80 people survived, but the building of the orphanage was heavily damaged.
Indisputable evidence of a crime
The Ukrainian Air Force published evidence that the strike was carried out by the Russian military. Screenshots from the Virage Tablet system confirm the trajectory of the Russian guided aerial bomb.

“Hitting civilians with bombs is the signature of Russian criminals! Even when the civilians are local residents, Russians. Traditionally, Russian propaganda blames Ukraine for the attack. But there is undeniable evidence that it was carried out by Russian tactical aviation,” the Ukrainian Air Force said.
Russian strike on the occupied territory
The Russians targeted the region, which is currently under the control of the Ukrainian Defence Forces. More than 90 people are trapped in the rubble, and rescuers are continuing their search and rescue operation.
This strike is another proof of the inhuman tactics of the Russian military, which continues to destroy civilian objects, even in the occupied territories.
