The Russian army is actively building up its forces by creating new brigades, but is facing difficulties in mobilising, which is why it is attracting military personnel from North Korea. This was announced by Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov during a briefing in Kyiv on 18 November, Interfax-Ukraine reports .

“Currently, Russian forces are growing. They are creating new brigades. By 1 June, the Russians had achieved only half of their goals, but their problems with mobilisation are forcing them to bring in troops from the DPRK,” the minister said.

According to Umerov, Russia has also used mercenaries from Africa and Asia, but now relies on military personnel from North Korea. “This shows that they have serious problems, but they continue to increase their forces. We know the exact number, and it is a significant figure,” he stressed.

The Minister stressed that Ukraine is making every effort to prevent the enemy from gaining an advantage.

“Our priority is defence and stabilisation operations. We are doing everything to give the enemy no chance,” Umerov said.

The situation on the frontline remains tense, but Ukraine is ready for confrontation and is strengthening its forces to respond effectively to new challenges.
