Russian strikes on gas production infrastructure: Ukraine has lost almost 50% of production – Shmyhal

голова українського уряду Денис Шмигаль

During a government meeting, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that Russia had carried out a series of massive attacks on gas production infrastructure this winter, resulting in Ukraine losing almost 50% of its own natural gas production.

“Ukraine has passed the third heating season in wartime, and we are now actively preparing for the next winter,” Shmyhal said. According to him, the state has already signed contracts for the supply of 1.5 billion cubic metres of gas, and another 300 million cubic metres of LNG will be supplied by Poland’s Orlen.

In addition, the company signed an agreement with the EBRD for EUR 270 million and received a grant from the Norwegian government for EUR 140 million. These funds will be used to purchase an additional volume of gas – about 1 billion cubic metres.

“We are doing everything possible to ensure that Ukrainians’ homes are light and warm even in times of war,” the Prime Minister stressed.
