Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga and the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, have discussed joint efforts to ensure lasting peace. Sibiga reported this on the X network.
In particular, the diplomat said that he had informed his European counterpart about the results of intensive diplomatic contacts in Turkey, including a meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul.
“We agreed that pressure on Moscow must be increased to achieve a full and lasting ceasefire, stop the killings and advance peace efforts,” the minister said.
Earlier, Kaja Kallas has repeatedly advocated a tough line against Russia’s aggression, stressing the importance of EU and NATO unity in countering the Kremlin’s expansion. Her meeting with Siberia took place against the backdrop of intensified diplomatic negotiations, including trilateral contacts between Ukraine, the United States and Turkey, as well as further consultations with key partners in Europe.
Ukraine insists that any negotiations are possible only if Russian troops are fully withdrawn and sovereignty over the entire territory is restored.
