Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi congratulated the US Army on its 250th anniversary and thanked the US military for supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
The general reminded that the US Army was born in the struggle for freedom and has become an example of military power that protects democracy around the world.
“In the darkest times of world history, the US Army, together with its allies, spoke the decisive word – both to defeat Nazism and to deter communism and terrorism. In Ukraine, we are clearly aware of this and highly appreciate it,” Syrsky wrote.
He especially thanked for the experience that the US military generously shares with their Ukrainian counterparts:
“Ukrainians are sincerely grateful to the US Army for the joint exercises – Rapid Trident, Sea Breeze and many others. For the training of our pilots, missile specialists, and other professionals. For the armed, technical, logistical assistance and intelligence that help us to deter the onslaught of the occupiers.”
Syrsky stressed that the partnership with the United States has become critically important after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022:
“You support us because you deeply understand the value of freedom, brotherhood and honour. You know who is on the side of good and who is sowing evil in this war. We are on the same side.”
The General concluded his address with words of gratitude and solidarity:
“I sincerely welcome you as partners, brothers-in-arms and colleagues in the Army.”
