Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi had a telephone conversation with Chief of the General Staff of the French Armed Forces General Thierry Bourcar to discuss key defence issues and further cooperation between Ukraine and France. Syrskyi reported this on his Telegram channel.
During the conversation, Syrskyi briefed his French counterpart on the current situation on the frontline and focused on the specifics of defence operations in the most tense areas. He highlighted the current challenges faced by the Ukrainian military and spoke about the needs of the Armed Forces to strengthen the country’s defence capabilities.
General Burkar confirmed that France will continue to provide material and technical assistance to Ukraine and will provide training for the Ukrainian military within the framework of the EU training mission. According to Syrskyi, the training programmes for Ukrainian defenders are being adapted to take into account the experience gained at the front, which will improve the skills of the military and take into account the specifics of modern combat operations.
Oleksandr Syrskyi expressed his gratitude to the French side for the stable support of Ukraine and the Armed Forces, noting that France’s contribution is important for strengthening the Ukrainian army in times of war.
