Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has issued an order prohibiting the transfer of highly qualified Air Force specialists who maintain aircraft to the infantry. He said this in an interview with military journalist Andriy Tsapliyenko on Sunday, 19 January.
“These are professionals whose training has taken considerable resources. They are experienced and have no replacement. That is why their transfer is unacceptable,” the head of the department stressed.
At the same time, Syrskyi acknowledged that the current pace of mobilisation does not meet the real needs of the army.
“Our task is to provide mechanised brigades with the required number of personnel. Currently, the needs of the front exceed the mobilisation capabilities,” he said.
The Chief of Defence also said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are taking measures to optimise logistics, supply and maintenance. According to him, this is being done “within reasonable limits” to maintain the combat effectiveness of the army.
“The headquarters have made the calculations, and we will not allow specialists who are responsible for critical work to go to the frontline,” Syrsky stressed.
