Kyiv, Ukraine – The Lithuanian army will continue to actively support Ukraine in the areas of military training, armaments and military reforms. The news was announced by General Raimundas Vaikšnoras after a meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi. During the visit, the main areas of cooperation between the two countries were identified, which are of great importance for strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities. This was reported by Time Ukraine Israel, citing Trueua.
Joint efforts in training and treatment of military personnel
Lithuania will continue training Ukrainian soldiers both on its own territory and in international formats such as Interflex and EUMAM. One of the important areas of cooperation will be support for the Ukrainian military in the process of rehabilitation and treatment of the wounded, which will be carried out in Lithuanian military medical institutions. In particular, during his visit to Ukraine, Vaikšnoras visited key facilities that were part of the successful defence of Kyiv at the beginning of the large-scale war.
Updated supplies of weapons and equipment
Lithuania has also agreed to facilitate the supply of important military systems, such as unmanned aerial vehicles, anti-drone technology, ammunition, and air defence systems. These measures are part of an overall strategy aimed at enhancing Ukraine’s ability to resist aggression and ensure national security.
An important part of the meeting was also a discussion of fortification technologies that have proven their effectiveness during the war. Lithuanian experts are interested in learning from Ukraine’s experience of defending against artillery attacks and shelling, in particular through the use of advanced fortifications and the latest air defence systems.
Best practices for future battles
One of the key topics raised by General Vaikšnoras was the importance of sharing experience in fortifications and the use of defence technologies, particularly in the context of enemy use of both missile and unmanned aerial vehicles. The Lithuanian military visited the air defence units that actively protect the capital’s skies from ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as attacks by drones and manned aircraft.
Deepening military cooperation
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in turn, noted the importance of conducting basic military training for Ukrainian soldiers under the guidance of instructors who will be involved in combat operations. The continuation of military cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania will be an important step in strengthening the country’s defence potential.
In this regard, the appointment of the new Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, was another important moment. The President expects him to deliver quick and effective results in implementing reforms in the Ukrainian army, which is an important step towards ensuring the country’s stability and security.
