Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in Kursk region achieves most of its goals – Syrskyi awards warriors of the 225th Assault Regiment

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Kursk operation has been going on for nine months and has completed most of its tasks, including the creation of a buffer zone on the border with Russia. He wrote about this on his Facebook page on 5 May.

According to Syrskyi, thanks to the active actions of the Defence Forces in Kursk region, the enemy was unable to launch an offensive campaign in Sumy and Kharkiv regions. The buffer zone that was created in the border areas remains key to deterring threats.

“A numerically superior enemy can only be defeated by non-standard actions. The Kursk operation came as a surprise to the enemy,” the Commander-in-Chief stressed.

Syrsky stressed that Ukraine is not only defending itself, but also counterattacking, beating the enemy on its territory, demonstrating its ability to take strategic initiative.

The 225th Separate Assault Regiment received a special award for its effective performance in the Kursk operation. Its soldiers provided high-quality active defence in the border areas and became a symbol of Ukrainian resilience.

“I had the honour to talk to the soldiers and commanders of the 225th Regiment and present them with state and departmental awards for courage, heroism and resilience,” added Syrsky.
