Trump vows to maintain US role in Ukraine peace talks

During the farewell ceremony with the Pope in the Vatican, US President Donald Trump assured Estonian President Alar Karis that Washington would remain a mediator in the peace process between Ukraine and Russia. This was reported by ERR.

In the conversation, Karis stressed the importance of the United States’ continued involvement in the negotiations. Trump, he said, reaffirmed his readiness to facilitate the continuation of the peaceful dialogue and noted that his recent meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy was encouraging for a possible solution.

The leaders also discussed the prospects for official visits: Trump invited Karis to Washington, and the Estonian president invited his American counterpart to Tallinn. The dates of the meetings are currently being agreed upon.

The talks took place against the backdrop of intensified diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine, which demonstrates that the United States is maintaining an active role in global peace initiatives.
