UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has affirmed that the West will not allow a dictator like Vladimir Putin to derail its support for Ukraine. Speaking on the matter, Lammy emphasized that the Russian president will not stop his aggressive actions, but his nuclear threats are nothing more than a smokescreen.This was reported by the BBC on Sunday, 15 September.
“Putin is just blowing smoke,” Lammy remarked when asked about the Russian leader’s nuclear warnings. He pointed out that such threats are part of Putin’s modus operandi, aimed at intimidation and disorientation. However, Lammy stressed that the West will not be diverted by a “fascist” intent on continuing attacks against Ukraine and remains steadfast in its course.
This statement comes amid heightened tensions, following Putin’s declaration that Ukraine’s use of long-range Western weaponry to strike inside Russia would be considered direct NATO involvement in the war.
