Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga met with Angolan President Joao Laurenço in Luanda to discuss food and energy security, freedom of navigation, and bilateral cooperation. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Time Ukraine Israel reports.

“We are grateful to President João Laurence for his clear support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both of our countries know the pain of war and value peace,” Sibiga said. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on current international issues, with a particular focus on ensuring food and energy stability.

The Ukrainian minister stressed the importance of supporting the Peace Formula as the only way to achieve sustainable peace in Ukraine and called on Angola to join international efforts to implement it.

Sibiga praised Angola’s peacekeeping efforts, particularly those of President Laurenço, in stabilising the situation in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, inviting Angola to participate in the second Global Peace Summit. The parties discussed the possibilities of intensifying cooperation in such areas as agriculture, education, technology, energy and military-technical cooperation.

“This year we celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Angola. My visit, the first visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to Angola, underlines the importance of Angola for Ukraine in the Southern Africa region,” the Minister added.

He also stressed the openness of Ukraine’s policy towards African countries, based on friendship, trust and mutual respect. In 2024, Ukraine established diplomatic missions in seven African countries as a testament to its commitment to cooperation.
