Ukraine and Germany have reached a new level of strategic military-industrial cooperation. Defence Minister Rustem Umerov met with a delegation from the German Ministry of Defence led by Major General Christian Freuding, Director of the Joint Planning and Command Staff and Head of the Special Staff “Ukraine”.

The talks are focused on further strengthening air defence, localisation of German arms production in Ukraine, and the prospects for joint ventures, particularly in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles.

“We discussed the implementation of strategic projects of the European level in the security sector, including the expansion of industrial cooperation between our countries,” Umerov said.

The Ukrainian side also initiated the expansion of joint work in the field of UAVs, which is one of the priorities of the defence strategy.

This week, Germany handed over another military aid package to Ukraine, which included missiles for IRIS-T air defence systems, Zuzana-2 wheeled howitzers and kinetic defence vehicles.
