Ukraine and Lithuania strengthen diplomatic ties: first conversation between foreign ministers

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga has had his first telephone conversation with the newly appointed Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys. Sybiga reported this on the social network X.

“I had a good conversation with Kęstutis Budrys, personally congratulating him on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and thanking Lithuania for its unwavering support,” the Ukrainian diplomat said.

Working together for peace

The Minister stressed that both countries are committed to further developing “excellent cooperation” and working together to achieve a just peace.

Budrys’ appointment completed the formation of the new Lithuanian government under the leadership of Social Democrat Gintautas Palutskas. On 11 December, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda signed a decree approving the ministers of justice and environment, officially completing the process of forming the cabinet.

Lithuania continues to be one of Ukraine’s key partners, providing support at the diplomatic, military and humanitarian levels.
