Kyiv, Ukraine – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine issued a commentary in response to statements made by Polish officials, including the Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland and the Minister of Digitalisation, regarding accusations against the Ukrainian leadership. In particular, it was an unconfirmed allegation that the President of Ukraine allegedly intends to draw Poland into a war by shooting down Russian missiles on the territory of Ukraine. This was reported by TimeUkraineIsrael with reference to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
In its official commentary, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stressed that such an allegation is groundless and does not correspond to the real situation. It is important to note that shooting down Russian missiles and drones flying towards Poland is a necessary step to protect not only Ukrainian but also Polish interests. Protecting Ukrainian airspace directly contributes to Poland’s security, as Russian threats do not stop at Ukraine’s borders.
Poland’s security as part of a pan-European strategy
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Russia is waging a war not only against Ukraine, but also against the European security architecture, of which Poland is an important part. In this context, Russia’s aggression has serious consequences not only for Ukraine but also for the whole of Europe, and therefore its containment is key to ensuring stability on the continent. Therefore, statements about Ukraine’s alleged intention to drag Poland into a war are not only unfounded, but also hostile to the existing solidarity between the two countries.
In particular, these include numerous cyberattacks, violations of Poland’s sovereign airspace by Russian missiles and drones, which are part of a broader strategy to destabilise security in Europe. Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured that all actions of Ukrainian forces related to air defence are aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region, not at expanding the war.
Preserving and strengthening solidarity between Ukraine and Poland
Ukrainian diplomats emphasise the importance of continuing strategic cooperation between Ukraine and Poland. While Russia is trying to destabilise the situation in Europe, the mutual support of the two countries is the basis for future victory. Therefore, in the face of ongoing aggression, it is important to maintain strong and unbreakable solidarity between the Ukrainian and Polish peoples.
“We are confident that the Polish government understands the importance of this partnership, and we will move together to achieve our main goal – to defeat a common enemy and restore a just, sustainable peace in Europe,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
The comment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is a clear confirmation of its readiness to defend not only its own borders, but also the security of all European countries. Cohesion, support and solidarity are the best response to Russian aggression, and this should remain the main goal of Ukraine and its international partners, including Poland.
