A Ukrainian delegation headed by the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, met on Wednesday in Washington with senior representatives of the transitional administration of US President-elect Donald Trump. This was reported by Reuters.

Negotiations with Trump’s national security team

According to the agency, the Ukrainian delegation held talks with Mike Waltz, the president-elect’s national security adviser, and Keith Kellogg, his representative for Ukrainian policy.

The official position of the transitional administration on the details of the meeting has not yet been made public. No comments on this matter have been received from Donald Trump’s team.

Congress postpones aid to Ukraine

Against the backdrop of this meeting, US House Speaker Mike Johnson said that he did not plan to put the issue of additional aid to Ukraine proposed by the White House to a vote.

“We will wait until the new administration is officially in office,” Johnson said. This decision may affect the timing and scope of US support for Ukraine in the ongoing war with Russia.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of the newly elected US administration’s active policy towards Ukraine. Donald Trump, known for his sceptical statements about supporting Ukraine during the previous campaign, has avoided making clear statements about his future actions.

For Ukraine, this meeting is an important signal of continued cooperation with the United States as a strategic partner in the new political environment.
