On Monday, 3 February, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi shared the results of the Ukrainian army’s activities in January and outlined the priorities for February. Syrskyi noted that the next month will be difficult for Ukrainian troops, but that the Russians will also “have a hard time”.
“The situation is difficult, but we are fighting back with dignity. We continue to effectively destroy enemy military targets both on the territory of Ukraine and Russia,” the Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said. He emphasised the importance of operations in Kursk region and the destruction of military targets deeper in the aggressor’s territory.
The main efforts of the Armed Forces will be aimed at holding the borders, enhancing training of military personnel and expanding the use of unmanned systems. Syrskyi stressed that the development of the Land Forces, Air Assault Forces and Marines continues, in particular through the increase in the number of unmanned systems in their ranks.
“We continue to supply units on the frontline with equipment and personnel. We are also taking measures to move servicemen from non-combat units to combat ones,” he said.
Syrsky also emphasised the importance of improving recruitment and increasing the psychological resilience of soldiers. He also stressed the need to improve the adaptation of recruits coming from training centres, as their training directly affects their resilience in combat.
“In January, we were able to increase the number of units that are being deployed to restore combat capability. Our plans for February are also ambitious, and we are taking into account all the challenges we face,” he added.
In conclusion, the Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that February will be difficult, but the Armed Forces are ready to give a worthy fight and ensure the country’s defence on all fronts.
