Israel needs to focus on ensuring its military, diplomatic and economic stability as it faces unprecedented challenges. After the 7 October Hamas attack, the country experienced a period of unity, as evidenced by the widespread use of the slogan “Yahad Nenatze’a” – “together we will win”. However, as time passes, this spirit of unity is gradually fading away, and disagreements and internal conflicts are taking its place.

Despite the ongoing struggle, Israel has found itself isolated on the international stage, and internal political controversies have significantly weakened the national front. The war with Hamas is not over, fighting continues in the south, and the situation in the north of the country leaves many Israelis displaced. This period requires not only military mobilisation, but also mutual trust between political and defence institutions.

However, recent internal conflicts, such as the spat between Prime Minister Netanyahu and the defence establishment, and attempts to remove Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, have only increased political instability. In addition, Netanyahu’s court case, which will continue to be delayed in the midst of the war, is also distracting him from important national security issues.

Other issues that undermine the unity of the nation include initiatives to rebuild Jewish settlements in Gaza. This issue is widely divisive and could lead to additional internal disputes, further weakening Israel in time of war.

Israel urgently needs to focus on rebuilding consensus, trust and unity among its citizens. Only in this way will the country be able to withstand this challenge and restore its stability at all levels.
