US President Joe Biden’s administration continues to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities by announcing an additional $275 million package of military assistance. This support, aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s position in countering Russian aggression, was confirmed by the US Department of Defence, Time Ukraine Israel reports, citing the official website of the US defence department.
The new tranche is the seventieth aid package provided by the United States from its stockpile since August 2021. Its key objective is to meet the most urgent needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the battlefield, including weapons, protective equipment and technical support.
What is included in the assistance package?
The package includes a wide range of products:
- Ammunition for HIMARS systems – modern rocket and artillery systems that have proven their effectiveness at the frontline.
- Artillery shells of 155 mm and 105 mm calibre, providing precision support.
- Mortar shells of 60 mm and 81 mm calibre.
- Unmanned aerial systems required for reconnaissance and strikes.
- Javelin, AT-4 and TOWanti-tank missiles and systems.
- Small arms and ammunition critical to infantry operations.
- Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear protection equipment.
- Demolitionequipment, spare parts, training and transportation services required to maintain the combat readiness of the troops.
Allied support continues
The United States continues to coordinate its efforts with nearly 50 partner countries within the framework of the Contact Group for the Defence of Ukraine. This cooperation allows us to respond quickly to challenges on the battlefield and provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the necessary weapons and equipment.
The announcement of this package demonstrates the international community’s unwavering support for Ukraine and the United States’ willingness to help until the Russian aggressor is completely defeated.
