On Sunday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Christie Noy and Senator Jackie Rosen in Jerusalem. The meeting took place against the backdrop of the tragic murder of Israeli embassy staff in Washington, D.C., the Prime Minister’s Office said. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post.
According to the press service, Christie Noem expressed her continued support for Netanyahu and the State of Israel, and thanked him for his strong stance in the war against Hamas and his security policy on the border with Egypt, including the construction of the border fence.
Noem’s visit to Israel was personally initiated by US President Donald Trump as an act of solidarity following the attack on Israeli diplomats. She began her trip with a visit to the Western Wall, where she was met by Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz. Together, they read a psalm and a special prayer for the souls of the victims.
“Israel is the chosen people, and the United States stands shoulder to shoulder with you,” Noem wrote in the visitors’ book after leaving a note in the wall.
The official meeting was also attended by Netanyahu’s top advisers, including Military Secretary Major General Roman Hoffman, Foreign Policy Advisor Dr Ophir Falk, Prime Minister’s spokesman Dr Omer Dostry, and US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee.
The meeting was an important political signal of the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the United States and Israel after the terrorist attack in Washington and against the backdrop of the ongoing war in the Middle East.
