Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and current Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom Valeriy Zaluzhnyi said that the United States is destroying the world order and threatening the unity of the West. He said this during a speech at the Institute of Royal International Affairs in London, The Times reports.
According to Zaluzhnyi, the US has begun to transfer responsibility for security to Europe, which could lead to a weakening of NATO, and in the event of its collapse, Russia will reorient itself towards Europe.
The main point from Zaluzhny’s statement:
- The US is “destroying the world order” and threatening the unity of the West.
- The White House is delegating security issues to Europe, reducing its involvement.
- The collapse of NATO could lead to a new threat to Europe from Russia.
Zaluzhnyi led the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion until February 2024, when President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed him due to disagreements over the war strategy. The general was then appointed Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK.
His name has already been mentioned as a possible candidate for the presidency of Ukraine if elections are held in the country.
