The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified a framework agreement with the United Kingdom on official loan support for the development of the country’s defence capabilities. This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on Telegram on Tuesday, 4 February. According to him, the relevant draft law No. 0300 was supported by 245 MPs.
The document envisages providing Ukraine with up to £2 billion for the purchase of air defence systems, air defence missiles, and the establishment of repair bases for military equipment. As specified, such bases will be located in Ukraine, which will significantly improve the operational maintenance of weapons and equipment on site.
Earlier, on 31 January, the government approved the draft agreement, which is another important step in strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities with the support of international partners.
The UK plans to provide at least $6.6 billion in aid to Ukraine in 2025, of which $3 billion will be spent on military needs.
