Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a high-profile speech in Washington, DC, in which he praised Donald Trump as the Jewish state’s most loyal ally.

“Thank you, Mr President. I am honoured to be the first foreign leader you host in the White House during your second term. It confirms your friendship and support for the Jewish people,” Netanyahu said.

He listed Trump’s key decisions that, in his words, have strengthened Israel’s security:

  • Recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and relocation of the US Embassy
  • Recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights
  • US withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Iran
  • Brokerage of the Abrahamic Covenants, which led to peace treaties between Israel and a number of Arab countries

“You have done something that has not been possible for a quarter of a century – in just four months, you have signed four historic peace agreements,” he stressed.

Netanyahu also referred to the October Hamas terrorist attack, which he called “the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust”. According to him, Israel has dealt devastating blows to Hamas, “destroying their military and governmental structure”, and has also weakened the influence of Iran and its allies in the region.

“The Bible says that the nation of Israel will rise like a lion, and today the roar of the lion tribe of Judah is heard throughout the Middle East. Israel has never been stronger, and the Iranian terrorist axis has never been weaker,” the Prime Minister stressed.

He also noted that the United States and Israel share a common goal of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

“We will win this war, and then we will win peace together,” Netanyahu concluded his speech, expressing confidence in further cooperation with Washington.
