US President Donald Trump believes that he has a real opportunity to end the war in Ukraine next week. This was stated by White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt, speaking to journalists after the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington.

“The president and his team are very focused on continuing to negotiate with both sides of this war to end the conflict, and the president is very confident that we can do that next week,” Leavitt told The Hill.

The White House’s statement came after Trump said that the Ukrainian president “has no trump cards” and should stay out of the US-Russia talks.

National Security Advisor Mike Walts will be working on the deal over the weekend, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent continues to consult with the Ukrainian side on the development of Ukrainian mineral resources.

“In terms of critical minerals, this is a big part for the president. It’s very important for the president because it will recover US taxpayer dollars,” Leavitt said.

According to her, the economic partnership between the US and Ukraine will help rebuild the infrastructure destroyed by the war.

In response to these statements, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Kyiv is taking concrete steps to ensure that negotiations on the future of Ukraine and Europe take place with the direct participation of the Ukrainian side.
