On 11 January 2025, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy chaired a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff to discuss plans to purchase drones and other equipment for the current year. In his video address, the President stressed the importance of this initiative for national defence.
“The main task is to make 2025 a record year for the number of drones of all types,” Zelenskyy said. He stressed that joint efforts by arms manufacturers, government officials and all stakeholders should significantly increase the production of not only drones, but also missiles, artillery and other necessary equipment for the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
Increase in orders and increase in production
Zelenskyy also clarified that the number of orders for drones is already increasing, which is an important step towards strengthening Ukraine’s arsenal. According to him, “our arsenal is one of the guarantees of the country’s independence, as well as the accuracy of our soldiers.” At the same time, he expressed gratitude to the military units that have been carrying out successful strikes on military facilities and logistics in Russia.
Gratitude and support for the military
The President also noted the importance of the results achieved at the frontline and stressed that such strikes should be more frequent and effective. “There should be more and more such important results,” he concluded.
Given these initiatives, 2025 promises to be an important milestone in providing the Ukrainian Defence Forces with the most modern equipment to ensure national security.
