During a telephone conversation, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of the United States Donald Trump agreed to immediately launch the work of two teams to identify ways to achieve a peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine.
This was announced by Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, informing about the details of the conversation between the leaders of the two states on television, Time Ukraine Israel reports.
“The presidents agreed to immediately start the work of the teams, in particular with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and US Vice President J.D. Vance. In a day’s time, the Ukrainian delegation will meet with them in Munich to discuss plans to end the war,” Yermak said.
Main areas of negotiation
The meetings in Munich will be the initial stage of the negotiation process, during which the teams will discuss strategies to end the conflict.
“We are ready to start consultations and work. It is important that Ukraine’s position remains unchanged – we must achieve a just peace,” Yermak stressed.
President Zelenskyy stressed that there can be no compromise on Ukraine’s independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty. These issues were discussed during the phone call and will be the main focus of future meetings.
Economic security of Ukraine
In addition to peace negotiations, the Ukrainian side is actively working to ensure Ukraine’s economic security. Andriy Yermak said that during his meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, they discussed long-term strategic cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, especially in the context of strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities and economic recovery after the war.
“Ukraine wants the United States to play a key role in rebuilding our country after the war,” Yermak said.
New strategic partnership
These agreements open a new stage in the cooperation between the administrations of the presidents of Ukraine and the United States. It is expected that negotiations and cooperation at various levels will continue to ensure sustainable peace and the restoration of Ukraine.
