On 17 December, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Lviv on a working visit to visit the Mars Field at Lychakiv Cemetery. The Head of State laid flowers on the graves of Ukrainian soldiers who died defending Ukraine’s independence in battles with the Russian occupiers.

The president announced his visit via Telegram, emphasising the importance of honouring the heroes who gave their lives for the sake of freedom and sovereignty of the state. “Lviv. The field of Mars. Eternal honour and gratitude to the Ukrainian soldiers who gave their lives for our independence,” Zelenskyy wrote.

The President’s press service released photos from the scene, which show Volodymyr Zelenskyy laying flowers on the graves of Ukraine’s defenders. It is worth noting that since April 2022, the Mars Field of the Lychakiv Cemetery has been burying soldiers who died during the war with Russia.
