President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that more than 46,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since Russia’s full-scale invasion began, and “tens of thousands” are missing or in captivity. He also stressed that 19,500 Ukrainian children had been forcibly transferred to Russia.
Russia does not disclose its own casualties, but British intelligence estimates them at 1,523 killed and wounded per day, and the total number of casualties could exceed 350,000.
Against the backdrop of these events, the first stage of negotiations between the United States and Russia on a possible end to the war begins in Saudi Arabia. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has arrived in Riyadh to meet with Russian representatives. The details of the talks are not yet known, but Rubio stressed that there are no real agreements yet, and that Ukraine should be involved in any peace process.
At the same time, it became known that Russian financier Kirill Dmitriev, who heads the Russian private equity fund, will also meet with the American delegation, in particular to discuss economic cooperation.
