President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a massive Russian missile and drone strike that took place on the night of 15 January. Despite the attack, most of the enemy targets were successfully destroyed, avoiding large-scale damage to the energy infrastructure.
Details of the attack
- Russia has fired more than 100 missiles and drones, including ballistic missiles.
- At least 30 missiles and more than 70 attack drones were destroyed.
- The enemy targeted energy and gas infrastructure facilities that ensure the normal life of Ukrainians.
Thanks to the effective work of the air defence forces, Ukraine’s energy system remains functional. However, as Zelenskyy noted, Ukraine needs to strengthen its air shield.
The President stressed the need to fulfil the promises made by international partners:
- Licences for the production of air defence and anti-missile systems.
- Implementation of the decisions discussed in the Ramstein format and at the NATO Summit in Washington.
Zelenskyy thanked everyone who is helping Ukraine, but stressed that this is not enough. According to him, it is now being decided whether the democratic world is able to guarantee security and stop wars reliably and for a long time.
