Zelenskyy: Ukraine is fighting for drone production, Russia for lifting sanctions

Ukraine is focused on building up its own drone production, while Russia is trying to get international sanctions lifted. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a briefing following talks with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, Ukrinform reports .

“It seems to me that we have moved to a stage of war where everyone is fighting for finances. Technology is replacing old equipment and old weapons in any case. The Russians are fighting against the imposition of sanctions because it will limit their finances. We are also fighting for finances, because we already have production [of drones], but it is not enough,” the head of state stressed.

Zelenskyy stressed that modern technologies have become key factors in defence, actively replacing outdated weapons. In this context, Ukraine relies on the development of unmanned systems, which are playing an increasingly important role on the battlefield.

According to the President, Western partners, in particular Germany, remain Ukraine’s strategic allies in strengthening its defence potential. During the meeting with Pistorius, the parties discussed both military support and the expansion of modern weapons production in Ukraine.
